What I Said About E-levy When I Met Ken Ofori Atta: GUTA President Finally Reveals To TV3 Journalist.
The President of Ghana Union Traders Association has spilled some information about various economic issues to TV3’s Alfred Ocansey.
According to Dr. Joseph Mensah , he used the opportunity that he had to tell the Finance Minister that the Ghanaian people are now learning to pay taxes so it was unwise to hold on to the tax exemption for a long time raking off more than GHS 6 billion worth of revenues.
He also mentioned that he told Ken Ofori Atta some very delicate things about the E-levy. He explained that he told the Finance Minister to have made the E-levy an indirect tax instead of its current state.

He also revealed that the E-levy rate should have been lower than the prevailing 1.5 percent.
The GUTA President also explained that many Ghanaians were also worried about the usage of state funds and he advised the Finance Minister that the E-levy should be used judiciously.
