National Cathedral: Rev. Kusi Boateng must resign – Okudzeto Ablakwa insists

Member and Secretary of National Cathedral Board of Trustees, Victor Kusi Boateng

North Tongu MP, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has called for the resignation of the Secretary to the National Cathedral Board.

According to him, Reverend Kusi Boateng has lost credibility, thus cannot be part of a project that is aimed at glorifying God.

“Rev Kusi Boateng must resign,” he said.

In an interview on Upfront on Wednesday, he explained that the continuous presence of the founder of Power Chapel Worldwide on the Board is raising questions in the minds of Ghanaians.

“You are complaining in that statement that people are not believing you, they are not donating, the fundraising has gone bad it is because of these things.

“You tell him to step aside and wait if ever he is cleared by CHRAJ, which is not possible, then he can come back and join your ranks. That is what they should have done, they did not do that,” he added.

The Legislator raised these concerns to reply to the press statement by the National Cathedral Secretariat on Tuesday, January 24.

He was concerned that the letter highlighted that they were willing to cooperate with CHRAJ and other stakeholders but failed to address the issue of Rev Victor Kusi Boateng’s alleged dual personalities.

This is the second time Mr. Ablakwa has called for the resignation of the Pastor.

The first time was in a Facebook post on January 16 where he disclosed that the pastor had disguised his identity as ‘Kwabena Adu Gyamfi’; a name he used in registering a company (JNS Talent Centre Limited), which received payments from the National Cathedral Secretariat.

However, on January 17, Rev Boateng responded with a statement in which he disclosed that he has taken note of the MP’s allegations designed to muddy his reputation.

According to him, the claims by the legislator are inaccurate.

“I am also informed that Mr. Ablakwa has petitioned the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) to investigate the said allegations he has leveled against me.

“I wish to assure the general public that the statements made by Mr. Ablakwa are a twisted narration of events to pursue a malicious political agenda,” he said.
