Aowin Traditional Council denies demanding removal of Western North Minister

The Aowin Traditional Council has dismissed media reports of some chiefs petitioning the President to relieve Richard Joojo Boateng of his position as Western North Region Minister.

“The position of the Aowin Traditional Council on the above matter is that all the allegations levelled against the Regional Minister by the purported Omanhene and the so-called sixteen sub-chiefs are preposterous and without basis and merit,” a press release on Wednesday, December 21 said.

It said the supposed Omanhene is only pursuing his parochial interest to have the regional minister removed.

“It must also be noted that, this same purported Omanhene is behind the alleged recent sanctioned wanton killings to which a bench warrant has been issued for his arrest.

“The Aowin Traditional Council is, therefore, by this press release respectfully debunking all the unsubstantiated allegations levelled against the noble Regional Minister and also using this opportunity to distance ourselves from the petition and the demand for the removal of the Regional Minister and by extension imploring the President of the republic of Ghana and the general public to disregard the petition and treat it with the contempt it deserves.”

It noted that the Omanhene and the sub-chiefs who are making the demands do not have the “customary and statutory mandates” to do so.

They are calling for investigation into this to bring all those found culpable to book.
